The
Weary Ploughman
A
warm welcome awaits you at the Weary Ploughman, a Restaurant,
Bar and Hotel located on the A3022, the main road that runs from
Paignton to Brixham.
The Weary Ploughman was originally built as a railway hotel in
the 1890s and sits alongside the Paignton to Kingswear steam railway
line.
Inside, the Weary Ploughman has been extensively upgraded and
provides a relaxed ambience in which to meet up with friends,
family or business associates to relax and drink from our range
of real ales and fine wines chosen with care from the best brewers
and wine merchants.
South Devon is an area where local produce is in abundance, where
our Head Chef Chris Snowdon and his team take real pleasure in
turning great local produce into tasty, wholesome dishes for you
to enjoy.
Most of our fish and shellfish is landed locally, our lamb comes
from Blackawton, near Dartmouth, our hams and gammon from Ashburton,
on the edge of Dartmoor, and all of our beef, pork, sausages and
chicken is supplied by local butchers. Our free-range eggs come
from Marldon, just off the Torbay ring road.
Even the beer we use to make our renowned Steak and Ale pie is
brewed just ten minutes away at the ever growing Bays Brewery!
We tend to be very busy on Friday and Saturday evenings, and Sunday
lunchtimes, so it is advisable to book a table in advance to avoid
disappointment.
